but this is a serious thing that most men do, it is believed that the person who takes up the most space is the most dominant person in the room. which is where the origin of “it’s not ladylike to spread your legs when you sit” came about. and why women, most of the time, will relinquish the armrest to a man sitting next to her. it’s a socially ingrained body language function.
Or maybe its been a long day of work and he has balls??? MAYBE ITS BECAUSE OF THAT??? like seriously no. You are the embarrassing one here. Its not lady like to spread your legs because, when you wear skirts, you see everything. WHAT. A. SHOCK. Men never had that problem. Men DO have the problem of having different body types that make it very VERY uncomfortable to sit with their legs together. Male and female bodies are different. Pls think.
Okay, but I don’t have enough fingers to count how many times I was scolded to close my legs by older women when wearing pants. Skirts have nothing to do with “being lady like.” It is understood that when wearing skirts you should keep your legs together, of course, but it’s deeper than that. I have attended seminars from body language experts that talk about the appearance of dominance and consuming space with high profile jobs, specifically in men.
It’s not a “man” thing. It’s a dominance thing, but it is more readily used by men, because they are taught from a young age that they are to be the dominant ones, and women are taught to contain themselves and to be the submissives. Societal structures spanning generations have seeped so deep into our lives that it even reaches our subconscious. Women can learn to use this body language, but it takes training out of submissive thought processes or not training submissive behaviors at young ages.
Power analysis or no, if that dude’s balls are that big he needs immediate medical attention.
Also, Swedish cis men can sit with their legs crossed just fine. Even fucking Abraham Lincoln could sit with his legs crossed:
